Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Anti-Virus Software

Recently I had the situation where CRM performance was slow to non-existent over a network but absolutely fine on the CRM server.

The cause, though I have yet to fathom why, was the Link Scanner of AVG. This has two parts, Enable Surf-Shield and Enable Online Shield. Disabling both rectified the performance problem.
