Update Rollups for Microsoft Dynamics CRM are released every two months or so. If you have a large number of users deploying the updates manually naturally takes time. There are three methods for deploying Update Rollups automatically.
- Use the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Update feature that is described in the CRM Implementation Guide. Note that users will have to be members of the Local Administrators group for this method to work.
- Use the Microsoft systems management product, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), (formerly Systems Management Server (SMS)) or similar third-party product. This is a purchasable product.
- Use Group Policy to deploy updates. Group Policy is a feature of Active Directory and is reasonably straightforward to setup. The advantage of using Group Policy is that users do not need to be members of the Local Administrator Group.
